I hate the saying I see printed all over ugly Nike T-Shirts.. “There is NO Off Season”… The truth is if you don’t have an off-season away from competing in a specific sport you will suffer the consequences in the long run.
Just as the seasons of nature go through fall, winter, spring, and summer so too does sports and the body.
If your athletes don’t have an off-season away from competitive sport(s) you are ultimately setting them up for failure in the long run.
I’ve seen the very best athletes we’ve trained get burnt out and I’ve seen nagging injuries become career threatening because most athletes these days have no off-season away from a sport.
With out an off-season you will miss the chance to make huge improvements in athleticism, skill, and strength.
Now, I don’t mean sit on your ass and not do anything. They should just simply take time away from competing in a specific sport. They can work on weaknesses, play a different sport, train for strength or speed, and just take relaxing days off in between to be teenagers or kids.
