I’ve spoke about training frequency for the different stages of trainees in the past but the one mistake that I see a lot of our more advanced athletes make is they think that as they get better they can do less when in fact the exact opposite is true. As performance levels increase it takes more work, more frequency, and more hours to keep improving.
Too many athletes leave stones unturned as they get better. I feel a lot of injuries come because they aren’t putting in the extra time to bring up the small often overlooked muscles and weak areas that can’t be touched in a typical training session and that take extra volume and frequency to bring up.
As you get stronger and more powerful and you are moving at faster speeds there is less room for error. You have to incorporate small extra workouts..
