Baseball & Softball Are Maximal & Explosive Strength Sports

Baseball (and softball) are strength and explosive power sports.

End of story.

Baseball is a short burst and rest sport… think about it… throw a pitch then rest :30 seconds, swing rest, swing sprint rest, sprint catch throw rest…

In the “steroid era” of baseball guys were hitting further and more often than ever. They were bigger, stronger, and more explosive than ever.

With all that being said, too many baseball players in high school are still lacking the strength and power required to be able to compete at the next level…

Sure, skill is important but at some point every athlete reaches a ceiling in terms of sports specific skills.. at some point horsepower needs to be added to the engine… and the earlier they get a jumpstart on that the better they will be in the long run…

I just sometimes wonder why baseball as a whole is so far behind getting on board with REAL strength and speed training? When I say “real” I’m talking about training for Maximal strength and explosive strength… not just doing some band work on the shoulders.

If anybody can answer this please let me know.

I did a video a few months ago that everybody should see especially parents of baseball/softball players… It’s about how recruiters look for athletes first and sports specific skills are an afterthought. College coaches want strong, fast, explosive athletes and they will teach them what they need…
