2018 has been good to us at BT…
filled with lots of hard ass work, big accomplishments, fun, and memories that will last a lifetime!
Its hard to narrow the best moments of 2018 down for me but here are a few that come right to mind when I look back on the past year:
– Having 3 BT guys in the finals of the State Wrestling Championship in AC… I really thought we would have 3 state championships when I woke up Sunday morning in AC and be putting up 3 fat-heads on the wall at the gym (thats the deal I’ve made with the guys)… they all wound of losing really close matches and came home with 3 2nd place finishes.. Kyle Slendorn at 132, Rob Kanniard at 160, and Josh McKenzie at 182… Not too shabby!
– Mike Rosati of Shore Regional having a nice freshman season playing FB at TCNJ. Mike saw a lot of playing time and had a great 1st season while juggling school, football, AND ROTC!
– Geno Napolitano having a great freshman season for Marist Baseball. Geno saw a ton of action behind the plate in his 1st college season and then he also dominated this past fall training having massive numbers and being 1 or 2nd on the team in 60 yard dash, deadlifts, verticals, exit velocity, and a few other categories!
– Maximus Bean AKA “The Bean Machine” placing 3rd at districts in wrestling by winning a huge tight match and a big upset to make regions!
– Abby Williams making the all-group 3 field hockey team and playing in the All-Shore game! Abby also will play field hockey next year at St. Lawerence University.
– Rob Kanniard placing 2nd in NJ at 160, then placing 4th in the US at Fargo, then signing with Rutgers (all as a Junior)
– Dave Calderon deciding to go back to school to Kutztown and becoming a starter and 1st team all conference (PSAC) in football! He took the long hard way but it paid off in the end…
– Carlos Sexton and Dante Kain being selected to represent team NJ for the FBU all stars 12U team.
– Wall’s Jake Glantzman organizing and throwing a great charity event for the Travis Manion Foundation… and all our athletes running the 5k with sandbags…
– Howell’s Shane Reitsma starting a charity to honor his uncle that passed away from suicide called “Change The Statistics”. Shane made CNN and other local news sources for his great work!
– Jack Kelly getting well over 100 wins then winning regions and wrestling fellow BT athlete and friend Paul Jakub in a great regional final!
-Kyle Slendorn becoming one of the Shore Conference’s most decorated wrestlers of all time… setting the Shore Conference record with wins and school record (158 wins), four time state placer, and 2 time state finalist!
– Miles Shuler signing and playing the season in the CFL for the Edmonton Eskimos!
– Cassie Betz tearing up her freshman season of high school softball for Wall. Hitting 7 Home runs and being named spring softball athlete of year in the area and being named one of NJ’s top freshman softball players.
-Howell’s Dylan Beyer leading the Shore in on base percentage.
-Howell’s Nick Rusczyk hitting 6 home runs 2nd most in the Shore Conference and setting the gym deadlift record for under 180 lbs.
